It’s 2014 and if you own a small business you’re probably deciding on A New Years Resolution for Small Businesses!… Well here are a few ideas you can try out that are specifically for small business owners!
1. Make customer service your number 1 priority! People value good customer service, it’s what keeps them coming back. Quality product is only half of the reason customers will return, usually its the experience they remember most. Taking the time out of your busy day to introduce yourself or asking the customer if they are experiencing any problems really shows the customers that you care. It also allows you, as a business owner, to interact with your customers. Not to mention, it also helps to reduce theft!
2. Focus on your web presence! Most people in the U.S. look to the web to find what they’re looking for, whether it be a place to have lunch or even an engagement ring, online shopping is becoming the way to shop. Therefore, as a small business owner, it is extremely important to make your presence on the web look professional and eye-catching. If you don’t have knowledge of Search Engine Optimization or Web design, hiring someone is the better choice, rather than trying to do it yourself. (Cimetta Design can help you here!)
3. Some hate it and some love it, but either way, technology is constantly integrating itself into our lives more and more. There is no better way to avoid becoming obsolete in the business world, than to switch over to the newer versions of programs and upgrading your technology. That doesn’t mean you should run out and buy the most trendy and upcoming piece of technology. It simply means if you have the budget for it, you shouldn’t procrastinate if you are experiencing problems with the new technology being incompatible with yours.
4. Perform a Security Audit! Along with outdated technology, comes security breaches. (We all heard about what happened to Target this holiday season, and if you didn’t: http://abcnews.go.com/Business/target-experiences-fall-security-breach/story?id=21309359) This could be the most important thing you could do all year. When it comes to security, there is no time to procrastinate.
Happy New Year and Good luck!
