Black Friday falls the Friday after Thanksgiving, the official beginning of the Holiday Season. It is the time when most retailers make the majority of their profits and tend to be operating in the black, hence the name “Black Friday”. Stores stay open for longer periods of time and sales and discounts are everywhere.
The name “Black Friday” originated in Philadelphia in the early 60’s because of the increased automotive and pedestrian traffic after Thanksgiving. It started to really spread after 1975 and become more and more popular with retailers ever since. Recently Cyber Black Friday has been added to the chaos. Combined Black Friday and Cyber Black Friday has been known since 2006 as the busiest shopping day of the year. Happy Black Friday!!
