Southwest Ranches Approves the purchase of their new Town Hall
The Town of Southwest Ranches had a dream of building a Town Hall ever since they became a town in 2000. They spent years planning it and millions to develop it. They had the site and the plans but the downturn of the economy made everything just seem like a dream. A dream until Councilman Doug McKay ran across a deal too good to pass over. New River Baptist Church had decided to sell one of they locations so they could renovate and or expand their other location. The Church and the School were the perfect size, the size of the parking lot was perfect, the price was perfect, the location was perfect. Councilman McKay just needed to sell it to the rest of the council and townsfolk. He came to me with the challenge. We took photos of the building and using photoshop we re-did the fascia of the building to meet the towns current rural design standard and sense of place. Cimetta Design Inc. won the contract to develop the design standards in 2005 competing a winning the bid against eight other design firms. The design standards were applied to the photograph which gave Councilman McKay a tool to sell the concept. The project has since been voted on and passed by the council unanimously.
